Breathing is one of the BEST ways to detox, because the oxygen you take in while breathing helps your body absorb vitamins and nutrients more efficiently. Breathing creates more white blood cells, helping to speed up the process of flushing, cleansing, and clearing out all the old stuff your body doesn’t need anymore. When you breathe, it charges your lymphatic system with lots of oxygen, and this naturally leads to detoxification of the body.
How often do you connect with your breath?
As you are reading this, and without any judgement, I would like you to shift your focus to your breath, and what it is doing right now. Again, no judgement, no right or wrong; just an observation of how you are breathing right here, right now.
Is it quick and shallow? Long and deep?
Great! Now read on……
I now want you to place your hands on your belly so you can feel where the breath should ultimately come from. Gently soften and relax your belly as you inhale for a count of 4. As you exhale, draw your belly in and up for a count of 4. Repeat this 3+ times and notice how you feel afterword. A little calmer? Relaxed? Or maybe, a little lightheaded because your body received a flood of oxygen it wasn’t used to?
When we breathe shallow, and from the chest, it is not optimal for oxygen absorption. Make it a regular practice to detox your body and optimize your oxygen intake.
Focus on deep breathing from your belly periodically throughout your day, and see how it makes you feel!
